Mentoring Ethics

Dr. Hageman adheres to the American Psychological Association’s code of ethics and is committed to increasing both the scientific and professional knowledge of people’s understanding of themselves.
In this respect, Dr. Hageman strives to benefit those with whom she works and to take care to do no harm.
She seeks to safeguard the welfare and rights of those who elect to work with her and to establish a relationship of trust and the best interests of her clients. She seeks to promote accuracy, honesty, and truthfulness and to exercise reasonable judgment while at the same time take precautions to ensure the boundaries of potential biases, competence, and limitations of expertise.
Lastly but not the least, she respects the dignity and worth of all people and their rights to privacy, confidentiality, and self-determination. She will remain aware of and respect cultural, individual, and role differences, such as age, gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, language, and socioeconomic status.
